After defeating Pakistan in arguably one of the best T20 matches played ever, team India has reached their next destination Sydney to lock horns against a comparatively weaker side the Netherlands. The men in blue will look to continue their winning momentum and crush Namibia. On the contrary, the Netherlands, known for creating upsets, will be eager to do it one more time against India.
India faced its traditional rivals Pakistan in their very first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and won that match after an interesting competition. This match also raised some controversies as umpires also made some strange decisions. They gave a no ball of Mohammad Nawaz to Virat Kohli which had been discussed a lot. The rules of cricket say that if a batter got caught out on a free hit, he will not be out and the runs he scored will also be considered but if a batter got bowled on a free hit ball, this ball will be counted as a free ball but umpires allowed three runs.
Netherlands performed well in their opening match against Bangladesh but they were on the losing side. The bowlers of Netherlands were just good and they restricted the batters of Bangladesh to a total of under 150 runs. The batters of Netherlands also performed well but could not chase the target. Remember that they performed well in qualifier matches and won two out of three matches.
India Reviews
India is overall a strong and experienced team when they come to the T20 format of cricket. The way how the bowlers of India performed in the first match against Pakistan was just outstanding. They picked two key wickets of Pakistan Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan on a total of just 15 runs. Arshdeep Singh provided early break throws to India and they leaked just 159 runs against the strong batting order of Pakistan. Hardik Pandya was the most successful bowler from their side with three wickets to his name in four overs against 30 runs. Arshdeep Singh was also outstanding with the ball. He picked a total of three wickets including the big wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam in four overs while he was charged for 32 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami picked one wicket each while Ravi Ashwin and Axar Patel were the bowlers who failed to pick any wicket. Axar Patel leaked 21 runs in just one over.
The bowlers of India did their job properly in the previous match. The key strength of team India is their batting order but they were struggling against the bowlers of Pakistan. The big names of Indian batters like KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Axar Patel failed to give the best performance. Virat Kohli was the only batter from team India who played a main role in this win. He remained on the crease till the chase of the target. He played his career best inning of 82 runs. His partnership of 111 runs with Hardik Pandya was a turning point in the game. Virat Kohli faced 53 balls and smashed six boundaries and four huge sixes during his inning. Hardik Pandya was the other batter who played a key role in that match. He scored 40 runs at a crucial time on 37 balls with the help of one boundary and two huge sixes. India had opened its account on the table and will be looking forward to winning its next matches against Bangladesh, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Netherlands Reviews
Netherlands won two out of three qualifier matches but lost the first match of the super 12 against Bangladesh. The key strength of the Netherlands had been their bowling unit and they also performed well in the previous match where they leaked just 144 runs in 20 overs. Fred Klaassen and Colin Ackermann are their leading bowlers with van Meekeren, Bas de Leede, Tim Pringle, Shariz Ahmad, and Logan van Beek. Paul van Meekeren was the most successful bowler from their side in the previous match with two wickets to his name in four overs against just 21 runs. Bas de Leede also picked two wickets but he leaked a lot of runs. He was charged for 29 runs in three overs. Fred Klaassen, Tim Pringle, Shariz Ahmad, and van Beek were the bowlers who picked one wicket each while Ackermann failed to pick any wicket.
The batting order of the Netherlands had not been much impressive in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The bowlers of the Netherlands are performing well but they are not getting any support from the batters. We also saw the same in their previous match against Bangladesh where they could manage to score 135 runs while chasing the target of 145 runs. Colin Ackermann was the only successful batter from their side who scored 62 runs on 48 balls with the help of six boundaries and two huge sixes. He is a good player of spin and seam bowler and we think that they will be good against the bowlers of India. Paul van Meekeren was the other batter who put some runs on the board. He scored 24 runs while the skipper, Scott Edwards scored just 14 runs. No other batter from their side could even enter into the double figure. This is a very important match for the Netherlands and we are sure that they will play with the full force.
