The Group A and B phase will see eight teams split into two pools and compete to qualify for the next stage of the tournament. Each country will play the other three teams in their pool, and the top two teams from each pool will advance to the next phase.
Each of these teams has won the tournament once before, with Australia currently reigning supreme. Each is favoured for different reasons: India because they are the world’s number one team, England because they are nipping at India’s heels in the rankings and have a dangerous batting line-up that has devastated bowling lineups over the last year, and Australia because they are the hosts and defending champions.
Australia is the betting favourite heading into the T20 World Cup 2022, with a betting average of 4.0 across the major bookmakers, slightly ahead of the rest of the contenders.

Each country will play five Super 12 games against the other teams in their group. A win will earn two points, a draw will earn one, and net run rate will be accumulated. The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals.
From there, the winner of Group 1 will face the runner-up of Group 2, and the runner-up of Group 2 will face the winner of Group 2.
The two semi-finalists will face off in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday, November 12th.
