When: Friday, September 2 at 2 PM GMT | 6 PM local

Where: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah

What to expect: Another hot and humid day in store. Chasing has proven successful across venues in the UAE with India being the only side to have defended a total this Asia Cup, incidentally against Hong Kong.

Pakistan vs Hong Kong: Pakistan will be going to head to head with Hong Kong in the last group stage match of the Asia Cup 2022. The match is going to be a highly significant one for both teams because it’s going to determine which team shall join India from Group A in the super 4 stages.

It still feels like early days in the Asia Cup, but one of Hong Kong or Pakistan will see their tournament draw to a close on Friday. The format for the first round means one defeat can place any side under instant pressure. With India having pulled clear through wins over both opponents, there is clarity to the mission for both the Associate and the Full Member, the giants and the would-be giant killers.

Asia cup 2022 will be hosted by Sri Lanka in UAE. A total of 13 matches will take place during the tournament. India is the defending champions of the tournament, which won the title back in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final. India has also won the most 7 Asia Cup titles so far. Sri Lanka comes next with 5 titles while Pakistan has won 2 titles.

After the defeat against India, Pakistan has got themselves in a must-win situation for their further progress in Asia Cup 2022

If by any chance, Hong Kong pulls off an upset tomorrow, Pakistan won’t be able to get to the super 4 round of Asia Cup 2022 and all the anticipation of another India Vs Pakistan game next Sunday will fall off. India has already qualified for super 4, but an India Vs Pakistan game in super 4 is only possible if Pakistan beats Hong Kong tomorrow.

While Hong Kong fought fairly well against India, most of that fight was because of their batsmen who took the Indian fast bowlers on and played some eye-catching shots. But Hong Kong’s bowling definitely struggled and their bowlers will be up for a huge challenge against Pakistan again.

The ICC Test Championship sees nine teams compete across a two-year cycle of matches before a two-team final decides the winner. The inaugural competition was won by New Zealand after a thrilling victory over India in June 2021.

Pakistan take on Hong Kong in match 6 of Asia Cup 2022 in Sharjah on Friday, September 2. The Super 4 stage begins on September 3 with Afghanistan becoming the first team to qualify after beating Bangladesh on Tuesday. Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are placed in Group B. India and Pakistan are placed in group A along with Hong Kong. The matches will be played in Dubai and Sharjah.

Both the teams have earlier lost a game each to India. Tomorrow’s game shall be a must-win for both teams. The winner shall be cementing its place in the last 4, while the loser shall have to pack their bags back home. It remains to be seen as to who wins the crunch match between Pakistan and Hong Kong tomorrow.

So far on the international stage, Hong Kong has never faced Pakistan in the T20Is. Both teams will meet for the first time in tomorrow’s match. However, in three meetings held for the One Day Internationals, Pakistan has convincingly emerged winners against Hong Kong.

Pitch report for Pakistan Vs Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2022

This will be the first time that both teams will play at Sharjah, as their first game against India was in Dubai. As it was evident in the game between Bangladesh and Afghanistan that the ball wouldn’t bounce much on the Sharjah surface and the par score might be somewhere close to 160. Batting second will, however, still be ideal because it’s a tough ground to defend with short boundaries all around.

Final prediction for Pakistan Vs Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2022

The final prediction is for Pakistan to win this game as they have much more quality on paper with both bat and ball. Hong Kong, on the other hand, seems to be lacking depth in both departments of the game, particularly in bowling.
